It was late in the evening a few miles just outside of the Vurmas Outpost when the sky began to whirl and glow bright green as if some kind of storm of magical energy was brewing. Then, in a blink, it split open, crackling bright tendrils of green arching out and to the snowy ground. It was hard to see the humanoid figure darkening the eye of the rift but a man was soon unceremoniously spat out of the rift and into the snowy tundra below. The green energy ebbed and raged for a few moments longer before slowly closing and fading as if it had never been there in the first place.

Luckily for Dorian, the whole show would be hard to miss and just odd enough to catch the eye of anyone at the Outpost. And should they wish to send out a search party it lasts just long enough to get a location before dissipating entirely. The mage has cut a human-shaped imprint in the snow, which has cushioned his none-too-gentle landing in Eiselcross. He'll pick himself up, shaking the snow off his person and brushing it off his shoulders and body. He's cursing under his breath in Tevene all the while and stoops to pick up his staff.

"Festis bei umo canavarum! it's colder than a witch's tit out here!" He complains to no one in particular, looking around and realizing he's very much alone. His robes and armor can only insulate so much, and Skyhold wasn't nearly as frigid as this place. Where ever he is. He'll start trudging forward towards the outpost he sees in the distance, hoping upon hope the people there are friendly and not immediately going to kill a mage on sight. In the mean time, he'll wrap his arms around himself, tucking his hands inside the fabric of his robes and attempt to warm himself with a little bit of magic.

brief bio:
Dorian is a Tevinter Mage. He is born from nobility which has made him fairly privileged. He’s extremely intelligent and talented with his magic, knowing a vast array of different skills and abilities. He prides himself on being the best at what he does and he strives to outdo all others. He’s vain, confident, and sometimes comes off as being pompous because of it. He’s not afraid to talk about himself and how great he is, and he loves doing it. His heart and head are in the right place though, as he joins the Inquisition to help save the world, knowing they could really use someone with his strength in the arcane. He only wants to make a difference, to be himself, freely, and to maybe one day return to change his homeland for the better. But saving the world takes precedent. Dorian, ultimately, only wants to do the right thing, despite many misconceptions about Mages from Tevinter. He breaks the mold and takes pleasure in doing so.

mental state: I’m taking him from a point in the main storyline where they have gone, into the fade which is near impossible to accomplish. They’ve survived, but he’s a bit unsettled by the whole thing. In the Fade, he had to face a Fear Demon and while running about in the spirit world they had to deal with it, mocking them or playing back memories and reminding them of unpleasant things. So it’s given him a lot to think about. He’s also recently dealt with his father trying to apologize to him for trying to force him to change who he is. In general, there is a lot on his mind, but otherwise, he’s fairly stable, mentally.

ABILITIES

**It is important to note that his magic abilities have been nerfed in Matthias and will tire him out very fast and/or fail entirely, and often. Depending on what he casts or how much, it could take a day or more of rest to restore his magic.**

Battle mage - Mages are trained on how to keep themselves safe or to defend themselves in close combat should the need arise, though they are trained in ways to keep themselves well out of the battle to cast. Their focus is honed like a blade through training. He is less likely to be interrupted in a fight and has a higher chance of holding his spell focus even if he is attacked or wounded.

Magic - Wiki Link here for more Dorian joins the party already knowing Ice, Fire, Lightning, and Spirit, gaining Necromancy as a specialization later on.

-Fire, Ice, and Lighting are pretty much what they say on the tin. He can command and control either of these elements in various ways. From creating walls of an element or casting a lighting storm. He can chain together lightning, or make mines of fire and ice so that when someone steps on the space it blows up and does damage.

-Spirit is a little more complicated, mostly it's used for nullifying negative magical effects to shield yourself or your party and healing them. It can also be used to do psychic damage.

-Necromancy is his canon specialization. Necromancy falls under the category of Blood Magic, however, Dorian does not and will not, use Blood Magic otherwise. But it is implied he does know more. In an extremely dire pinch, he probably could do Blood Magic and would either use his own blood, or that of some willing participant only, but refuses otherwise. He LOATHES blood magic, I can’t emphasize that enough.

-Restoration/Revelation- There are times in-game where a mage in your party can be used to restore debris and fallen parts of a path using the ability “Energize”. This can be used to restore a bridge to walk across, or a ladder that was in pieces, or reforming a wall to seal up a path behind them. Things like that. They are also able to create a green flame made of spirit energy, called Veilfire. it burns without a need for oil or wood and will reveal hidden spiritual runes, among other things. It can grant the user the ability to understand inscriptions, or texts, or otherwise get a general feeling or sensation from something magical they would otherwise not know. This ability will only work about 10% of the time in-game (The Village).

IC PERMISSIONS

physical affection: Sure! He's a little touch starved. Though it might be a little awkward or tense if he doesn't know you well enough. He likes to keep his physical appearance near to perfection so messing with his hair or clothes will be met with fussing. A hug may be grumpily accepted but don't let him fool you, he likes it.
flirting: Absolutely! This is like his number one means of banter, especially if he likes you. He even flirts with women, even though it will obviously not go anywhere. He flirts with everyone really.
relationships: Possibly! At the moment he's more of the one-night stand, no strings attached mindset. But with the right CR it could happen! He's just not ever expecting it to.
sex: See also the no strings attached thing, Dorian likes a good fling from time to time and I am 100% down for smut. Sorry ladies, M/M only.
fighting: Sure! I enjoy some good in-game conflict. I do prefer we keep an open means of communication while threading if possible! I like to be able to discuss and plan things as we go so no one's toes are stepped on or there's less chance of misunderstanding. I want to be on the same page and check to be sure the actions taking place are a-ok.
injury/death: Injury, yes! Within reason, let's discuss/plot. And death... yes/no? I prefer this definitely be plotted out ahead of time first. It is a horror game after all, so I'm open to the idea. Again within reason.
psychic information: Being a mage they are taught ways to protect themselves mentally, but it's not perfect, so I think it's safe to say if someone's abilities are strong enough or under the right circumstances someone could pry into his mind. At their own risk of course. But otherwise, I'm open to almost anything. Please contact me first and let's plot it out.

triggers:
- Dorian's somewhat afraid of heights and he hates sailing. He's not too keen on the ocean either or getting wet. He tends to fuss a lot in general, but more so in certain terrain/weather conditions.
- He can get somewhat defensive when people assume things about his character. Even if he's completely used to this happening, it still can get his back up.
- He's pretty concerned about possession and would probably freak out about anyone/anything manipulating him psychically in some way or taking away his will, freedom, and control, or if it would change him entirely.
- He also is very, very much keen on self-preservation, but will usually stay to make sure everyone gets out fine, not just himself. Though he will fuss and argue about it and make his opinions on a situation known.

He doesn't seem to have any triggers that really fully shut him down, but the above will get negative responses.

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Absolutely OK. Preferred that he at least know you well enough for hugs, etc, but he won't complain too much unless it gets awkward. He's a flirt, so he will definitely appreciate gentle, sensual touches and the like if he's particularly interested. And if he is with you he can be very tender and cuddly, and enjoys the same.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Is absolutely fine by me. If our characters are to get into an altercation of some kind I would like to plot it out and discuss things first though! Please ask permission before attacking Dorian, otherwise he will probably react some what negatively and it could end a thread abruptly, I would prefer things to go as smooth and as fairly as possible for both parties. So if we DO plot to do a fight scene I like to have an open way of discussion and contact throughout the thread, on plurk or discord, to discuss moves and attacks and to be sure I'm not stepping on anyone's toes. I like a thread to flow on it's own, but also don't want to just assume, it's mostly for courtesy sake.

ROMANCE/FLIRTING: Yes! Absolutely. Dorian, again is a giant flirt, so he tends to flirt with anyone, even if he doesn't intend to follow through. He is gay and prefers men for romantic partners, but will still flirt and compliment women as a sort of friendly banter. When it comes to shipping I prefer to let CR play out and see where it leads, unless otherwise plotted for PSLs or what not. Furthermore, Dorian doesn't really know how to handle actual relationships as he's never really been in one.

SEXUAL CONTENT: I am absolutely A-OK with any kind of sexual content. I only have a select few hard NOs (mpreg, underage, most vore, bathroom stuff, some humiliation depending, no rape; though some non-con might be ok, just please discuss) Anything else, please feel free to discuss with me or ask ahead of time. Various humanoid species are alright, but if it starts getting too far into furry territory it might be a No. Sorry.

PSYCHIC ABILITIES: Yes! Though depending on the situation it may be somewhat hard for them to get into his head. Being a strong Mage, he knows how to guard himself against such things. BUT if he doesn't know TO guard himself, certain things could be gleaned. We can discuss anything further or plot stuff out. (There's a theme here I like plotting and am open most ideas!)

MAGIC/POWERS: Very yes. Any and all powers would intrigue him and he will geek out a lot about magic/being a mage/ etc.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: 30 years old, 6 ft even, silver-grey eyes, medium build, muscular/lithe and toned, lightly tanned skin (perhaps Mediterranean in nature?) Close up for reference Nothing too glaring health wise? He's allergic to stripweed, a plant commonly used for tea in Thedas.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS OR TRIGGERS: If you insult his appearance/clothes/etc. He won't really be offended if you insult his homeland, because he understands a lot of people hate it for various reasons and have preconceived notions about his peoples, but he be disapproving and will very openly speak up and correct you or argue about it. I don't think he really has any "triggers" per se? He has a knee-jerk reaction when people tend to lump him in with people he doesn't agree with or just assume things about him, he's very opinionated in general.
